Encouragement

"If" I'm feeling down and in need of some comforting words
this is what I would like to hear...

"Everything will be fine in the end."
"And if it is not fine....well then it is not the end."

delicate bits of moisture.

Silver stickers, Basic Grey embossing snowflake,
Spellbinders snowflake die,

Another Banner Day!

Made this cute little banner yesterday over at Deb's. The week before I had started cutting it out for a surprise project. But we went to the post office to mail out our charm swaps that are going to Canada. And then some shopping for art supplies instead. So since it was ready to put together I brought it over to do. Well another friend was in need of a lift. So nothing like some Art therapy to help get you through what ever it is we are dealing with. So we (mostly Deb) cut out all the elements so she could make one too.
Even with a Pizza ( Thanks Steve!)  and coffee breaks provided by Debra of  It's All Good.  We were all excited that we actually finished it in one afternoon. Great to see everyone's own spin on the same idea.
Check out her blog to see a similar yet different banner. And everyone's mood was made better for listening sharing caring and creating. So if you are feeling a little down may I suggest a little Art therapy and go "Create" something. (smile)
(I'm pretty sure she has beat me to the posting of this project..I have yet to check for myself.)
Supplies I used:
Old Sizzix original banner die, Tim Holtz  paper rosette sizzlet strip die, Laundry line paper, ribbons, beading, Tattered Angels glimmer mists, tiny paper roses, small eyelets, distress inks, Thickers Alphabet, Martha Stewart glitter,  and Hemp cord.

Heart of Hope

Sending this hanging heart out to Joann.
Tomorrow she has her surgery.
Hopefully they will be able to remove all the cancer
so it will never come back!
UPDATE: 11/3/2010
Her surgery went well. They kept her over night for observation.
Good thing too because one of the meds they gave her
caused an allergic reaction. Itching and made her throat swell.
They got things under controll.
But they kept her over night again to be 100% sure
she was okay to send home.
Thank You for your
thoughts and prayers and poems.
I'll make sure I tell her about all of you wonderful bloggers.

A Prayer Request

Perhaps there is someone that you know is dealing with a form of cancer. We just found out a dear friend of my Mom and our family has just been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I used to baby sit for her when I was younger. She is such a lovely person.
Cancer is such a strange cell.  A person can go along for years in remission and then one day it pops its ugly head up again. If I could count on one hand those I know personally that have been affected by cancer that would be too much.  How sad is it that I need more than two hands.
Another friend of mine just went through weeks of uncertainty if her son's cancer had returned.  But they just received some good news that it had not.
Perhaps you could say a prayer for those you know and even for those you don't know to endure this difficult time for them and their family and friends.
Since cancer is a very personal battle, a strong faith can help. Prayer, our avenue of communication with God, can have a very calming influence. As the Bible states:
“Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:6, 7.
We look forward to when God “will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” —Revelation 21:3, 4
Under God’s Kingdom rule, cancer, along with all other scourges, will be eliminated.

Cabbage Rose-ish

Played with some designer fabrics today.
Made some appliquéd type of flowers that can
be used in a variety of ways.
I will use mine for mini albums and altered art pieces.
Using the Lollipop flower method of cutting several various
sized circles attaching them together.
Then heating them. Usually the edges start to turn up.
But with this polyester fabric it took on a more random look.
Which suited me just fine.
They ended up looking more like
little Cabbage Roses to me.
Then I couldn't leave well enough alone.
They were calling out for
Embellishments.....like
feathers, tiny metal flowers, velvet leaves,
rhinestones, sequin and beaded trim. So hear you are.

Altered Hearts from Caroline

We did one for each other using either
Nature, Movie Star, or Steam-punk
as the theme.
 She chose a combo
She used a high quality photo paper.
So her images came out crisp and clean.
She had some fun with the back using dies cuts,
molding paste and fabric to give it texture.
Highlighting it with metallic paints.
Sweet!
 This one incorporated the
Breast Cancer Awareness
theme we chose to do.
 She chose a beautiful image
Complete with pearl accents and the
Gold ribbon that says hope.
On the back Caroline made a pocket
accented with pearls. The sentiment says
"Life changes...
So make every day count."
Perfect.
This lovely rose is attached to
this heart shaped tag she stamped on.
So nicely done.
I love the hearts she sent me.
As well as some extra Goodies.
Thank You so Much Caroline.

More Altered Hearts

So I made an extra set of the
Altered Hearts I swapped with Caroline
I had the hardest time photographing this one.
They turned out almost the same except I used a different
7 Gypsies charm on the bottom of each of the hearts.
This was done in pink in honor of
Breast Cancer Awareness.
Thanks for Looking!

Some Artsy Gifts

This Pendant was gifted to me this past Saturday
when I was invited over to Deb's
to work on greeting cards.
So sweet! Thank You Deb.
The front has a beveled glass and a glittery heart
and a hand soldered copper finish.
& the back has this cute image.
You can check out Deb's blog at

Then today in the mail I was surprised with this
digitally created recipe card
by Nance VanHoose of
http://HerArtNest.blogspot.com.
So thoughtful and I will definitely try it!

Can't show just yet

So this is a sneak peak at an Altered Heart
I am working on for a swap.
We decided to make it pink in honor of
 breast cancer awareness.
I want her to have an element of surprise.
So is this the front or is it the back?
The stamp set is "Brighter Tomorrow" now retired from SU!
So Caroline, if you happen to be looking...
I hope you like what you see so far.
